Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS)

DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THE NEW SCHEME THERE MAY BE TIMES WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT ANY MORE OF YOUR ELIGIBLE CONTAINERS ON THAT DAY.

We accept all eligible containers: Aluminium cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, paperboard cartons under 1 litre, steel bottles, cans.

Not eligible: Wine & spirit bottles, milk containers, paperboard cartons over 1 litre or cordial bottles.

Please seperate items and sort your items and limit to 100 (where possible) lots for plastics aluminium cans and small containers. Glass, stubbies etc. into lots of 50. Reusable bags are available here at Cohuna Neighbourhood House.

Please DO NOT crush cans or plastic bottles and make sure the bar code is visible. Any non-eligible items are to be taken back and put in your recycle bin.

We reserve the right to refuse unwanted and non-eligible items.

All items brought in that are not in reusable bags, it’s your responsibity to take these items back and dispose them e.g. carboard boxs, crates etc.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10am-3pm

Fri 10am-5pm

Saturday 9am-12pm

Sunday by appointment (if a person/rep is available on that day)

If you would like funds paid into your bank account, download the “CDS North” app and fill in the details. We can pay you cash or you may choose to donate the funds to a charity of your choice.

Please note. During after hours Friday 3-5pm and Saturdays 9am - 12pm you may be given (as payment) a cash voucher which you can cash in during our normal business hours. Direct bank transfer using the CDS North app will be available during these times.

You are helping your community by returning your containers locally.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE DONATED ITEMS OUTSIDE. COME IN AND SEE US DURING NORMAL HOURS IF YOU WISH TO DONATE TO US.

CONTAINER
DEPOSIT SCHEME

The Container Deposit Scheme will reward Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible can, carton and bottle they return. The scheme provides businesses, charities, schools, community and sporting groups an easy way to raise funds and will create future job opportunities across the Victorian economy.

Visy will power over 200 refund collection points across the Loddon, Mallee and Hume regions, as well as the inner north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

CDS Vic is set to began on the 1st November 2023.
